About Bird Academy

Bird Academy is the educational arm of Bird Group, one of India's most established names in travel, aviation, tourism, and hospitality. Founded in 1998, at a pivotal moment when the industry was transforming rapidly - new routes, new roles, new possibilities and technologies emerging with a momentum that demanded a skilled, trained workforce, Bird Academy was conceived to do exactly that, build that workforce.

A pioneer in curriculum design, content development, and vocational training, the Academy has spent over two decades shaping careers across travel, aviation, tourism, and hospitality, developing internationally competent professionals ready for a dynamic, global industry. Our programmes are built around focused skill development, preparing students to enter the workforce as capable, multi-skilled professionals, ready to contribute from day one.

When I started, there were no schools for this industry. No readily available reference books even the OAG Aviation Guide and the ABC Guide were hard to come by. You learned from people who had been in the industry long enough to know it by heart. Knowledge was passed person to person, earned through experience, not classrooms. And then, in the mid-nineties, the MTS 2000, the first computer arrived at the Lufthansa office. I still remember that day everyone gathered around it like a tiger in the zoo, filled with wonder and curiosity. The future had walked in through the door.

And then came the IT revolution, and the world turned to India. Not because we were competitive on price and manpower, but because we were extraordinary. India's educated, talented, and dedicated workforce had quietly built a reputation the world could no longer overlook. Banks, airlines, back-office operations, marketing, all outsourced to India, because the world had finally recognised what we always knew: that this country's greatest resource has always been its people.

Some of my proudest moments have been the quiet ones. Walking through an airport and being stopped by a student we trained, that moment is precious. And for any deserving candidate who cannot afford an education, our mentorship programme ensures the door is never closed.

That is what Bird Academy has tried to be, since 1998 a starting point. One step, then another. Rome wasn't built in a day, and neither is a career. But every small step adds up to something larger, a family's future changes, a community's future changes, and in some small way, the country's does too.
